Yene Damtew is an internationally recognized beauty expert, IAT Certified Trichologist, educator, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Coil Confidential. With nearly two decades of experience, she is best known as the longtime personal hairstylist to the Obama family and the founder of Aesthetics Salon, an award-winning salon in Arlington, Virginia.
A respected industry leader, Yene has been featured in Vogue, Allure, GQ, and NPR, and was recognized as a “Hair Raiser” on Ulta Beauty’s Muse 100 list. Through Coil Confidential, she is passionate about elevating the beauty industry by empowering stylists with the technical expertise, business strategy, and leadership skills needed to build thriving, sustainable careers.

Jamal Edmonds is an educator, texture expert, and colorist who has been shaping the hair industry for over two decades. A multi-year finalist for the North American Hairstyling Awards and the 2022 Texture Winner, as well as a 2018 ABS Global Image Award winner, Jamal is the owner of JE Parlour, located just outside of Washington, DC.
Known for his innovative approach to textured hair, Jamal is a Redken Global Artistic Ambassador whose work spans education, editorial, runway, and commercial platforms. His artistry has been featured on magazine covers and in top editorial publications, while his talent has been tapped for major events including New York Fashion Week, BET Upfronts, “Black Girls Rock!”, and the BET Awards.
His client roster has included Angela Rye, Terrence Howard, Eva Marcille, Bevy Smith, Angie Stone, Elle Varner, Teyana Taylor, Jennifer Hudson, and Tyra Banks.
